I did not care for this place at all. Sunny California and the nearby Pacofic Ocean did nothing to alter the unpleasantness that enveloped me during my stay here. Being just a bit North of the glamour of Los Angelas did nothing to ease my dislike for what California had to offer. I'm not exaggerating to say I make friends easily..... in the opinion of many others but, my attempts to make friends were quickly rebuffed by the many SNOBS that inhabited the area. Fortunately, when my husband's training was over he was assigned to more amiable place |

Soon after my husband John and I were married in Williamsport, PA, he enlisted in the navy. He aws assigned to the Seabee's training center in Port Hueneme California. For some reason, probably cost, we made the trip by bus. Traveling long distances by bus is rather unpleasant. Traveling 3,000 miles by bus is excruciating. Anyway, after settling down I begn work at a local hospital in their food prep area. A good portion of my time was spent delivering meals to patients. It was an OK job and it never contributed to my otherwise significant displeasure of being in Port Hueneme. |
